The Big Dog Running Company Fit Process
In order to determine which type of shoe is right for you, we at Big Dog Running Company employ a process comprised of three steps:
(1) Assessing your running habits and goals: What type of running do you do? What are your training goals? The distance you run and the surface you run on influence the type of shoe you should wear.
(2) Running Gait Analysis: We will use our slow motion video technology to analyze your running gait. Video gait analysis will allow us to assess your pronation tendencies. Your degree of pronation is the key factor in determining the amount of stability or motion control your shoes need to offer.
(3) The Test Ride: Based on the information gathered in the above steps, we will bring out a few shoes that we feel best meet your needs. Now, all of the analysis and technology takes a back seat to how the shoe actually feels to you.
You will take a little jog in our store or treadmill, or if you like, the sidewalk outside, and give us your feedback on how the shoes feel. This is referred to as the Fit, Feel, and Ride. How is the fit in the length, width, heel, and toe box? How does the shoe conform overall to your foot? How is the cushioning and responsiveness? How does the shoe transition your weight from heel to toe?
